Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine
Nutritional Counseling

Laurie brings over fourteen years of experience in nutritional/herbal therapy along with six years of study of Traditional Chinese Medicine to each patient. She holds a Masters of Oriental Medicine Degree from the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin. She is a diplomate of the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and is certified in Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture. She has also completed extensive training and coursework in Holistic Medicine, Western and Ayuvedic Herbology, and Shiatsu massage. Her areas of treatment expertise include allergies, acute and chronic pain, insomnia, fatigue, carpal tunnel syndrome, stress, anxiety/depression, hormonal balancing, and digestive disorders.

Laurie believes in treating the whole body, as well as the spirit. She views causes of disease as “imbalances” in the body, and feels that the goal of treatment is to recover balance through acupuncture, herbal medicine, correcting nutritional deficiencies, and lifestyle modification.

"According to Chinese Medicine, all functions of the body and mind are manifestations of Qi, or 'vital force'. Acupuncture points are gateways of the body that are opened and closed to adjust the dynamic of each individual's Qi. Stimulation of the points exerts profound influence upon the equilibrium of the body as a whole, which in turn, leads to healing. But the ultimate healing comes from inside each individual patient. We all carry the innate power to heal ourselves in our minds. My favorite thing is to remind my patients of this. And to see the powerful positive changes in them resulting from this awareness." ~Laurie
